In the beginning...

In the beginning a long time ago Mr. Rowland of dux boats of South Africa was building the round nose inflatable boat for racing as well as several others in the 80's. Mr. Rowland was contacted by Mr. Thomas Chaffee of Michigan in the 90's for consulting on how to build a inflatable pickle fork racing boat in the USA that dux boats south Africa was manufacturing. Several of the South African boat builders came to the USA to assist in these endeavors.

 

So we can get this right, the inflatable race boat designs came from South Africa! That is where it all started and still is a major ordeal! I know this because I have one of the original men that lived it building boats for us that trained the men that we have now.

 

An American company thought they were smart and talked Mr. Murray Elliot of South Africa into taking his designs to China which many of you may see now. Of course these boats will never be the boat we build; Murray Elliot didn't show them everything! Why? He got stiffed! Seems to be a big problem in America? Anyway through the course of time materials improved, but the same boat design is basically the same today.

 

I do want to tell you that the Merten's of Merten marine (quicksilver) did play a big role in raising the speeds of these boats to the level of insane, but hey isn't that what its all about! Our goal is to provide the best inflatable boat a company can provide the customer at a price the competition will cry about. We at Team Xtreme Inflatables have taken all the above and incorporated it into our products.
